The Heart Don’t Mind
Mind: You drive, I’ll get the GPS set up on the Bluetooth so we won’t get lost.
Heart: How can we get lost going to the neighborhood grocery store? (sighs) I swear you overthink things.
Mind: I overthink things? You don’t think enough always going with your gut feeling. Will you pay attention to the road, Chanel said turn left here.
Heart: Who is Chanel?
Mind: The GPS dummy. You know everything has to have its place and purpose. Chanel’s purpose is directions. Any more clever questions?
Heart: I don’t know how I got stuck with you. I mean what is your deal. You always complain about being lonely, but when I find a good match, you find a way to sabotage it. You are truly a piece of work.
Mind: I do not sabotage anything, you pick the wrong people, plain and simple. I want someone who is educated, handsome, rich, powerful, and did I mention rich. You have yet to meet any of my prerequisites. Sometimes I think you don’t listen to me.
Heart: You’re right, I don’t listen to you because you are just plain
foolish. Your wants or desires in a man are superficial and empty. The men I try to find are God-fearing men. Men who respect women. Men who love their mothers. That is what you should want also. I forget since you’re the mind you think you know everything. Well, mind, I am the heart and without me, you be lost. We need to be loved and we need to have someone to love. Those material possessions you spoke of, we will never agree on.
Mind: Yeah. Whatever, I think you missed the turn.
Just a daily conversation between the heart and mind driving each other crazy.
Today’s Prompt: Write a post based on the contrast between two things — whether people, objects, emotions, places, or something else.
Remember those “compare and contrast” essays in composition class, in which you’re forced to create a clunky juxtaposition of two arguments? Just because that particular form was a bore doesn’t mean that opposition has no place in your writing.
Bringing together two different things — from the abstract and the inanimate to the living and breathing — creates a natural source of tension, and conflict drives writing forward. It makes your reader want to continue to the next sentence, to the next page. So, focus on your two starkly different siblings, or your competing love for tacos and macarons, or whether thoughts are more powerful than words, or…you get the idea.
Today’s twist: write your post in the form of a dialogue. You can create a strong opposition between the two speakers — a lovers’ quarrel or a fierce political debate, for example. Or you could aim to highlight the difference in tone and style between the two different speakers — your call!

The story of our lives. Thanks for stopping by 😉
lol. Thanks. Sometimes the conversations between heart and mind are truly hilarious.
Your post makes a nice read! There is always a juggle between my heart and mind as whom to listen..lol
I love this! It’s really creative and true 🙂
Interesting take of a heart and mind conversation. I don’t think one has to win over the other. Both are just doing their best.
Looks like I am doing this kind of conversation everyday. Funny truth! 🙂
The age-old conflict between heart and mind. In the end, I guess, the key is striking a balance between gut feel and logic.
Sometimes my heart and my mind have very different ideas and find it difficult to communicate. It is all about balance.
Sometimes the heart and the mind do conflict with one another but it depends on the situation who we should listen to.
This is me like everyday. Although my mind rules my heart alot.
Thanks a ton for stopping by. 😉
Hi Pranshu, the heart and mind never communicate with one another on a civil basis. Thanks for stopping by
lol. I try. How did I do? Ever so often my psychic powers are pretty accurate. 😉
Thanks Kimberly. Have a great day 😉
This is awesome. I love the challenge and the idea you chose! Very inspiring 🙂
Truly the heart doesn’t have the power to think. Mind is clever to only choose rich, powerful and handsome people. Interesting conversation enjoyed reading it!
Are you psychic? Spying on what’s left of my inner children? Lol💜
Haha, awesome I love this =) so very true. I follow my heart always =)
Hi Desirée, I totally agree it is a miracle when they get along or agree on anything. 💯😉
haha this made me laugh, it really is a miracle when the heart and the mind agree 🙂
The battle continues..It always ends in a draw.;)
Nicely written. So may we know who won at the end 🙂

Definitely something we all encounter more times than we’d like to recount. Thanks for replying 😉
Good question, I guess I’d say my message was to demonstrate that inner struggle we tend to have, I just made the conversation a little fun. But, that inner struggle applies to any situation. Thanks for asking 😉
Thank you. Have a great day 😉
So true, the heart and mind never seem to be on the same page…ever..lol thanks for stopping by 😉
I used to love the compare and contrast essays. I liked writing all of my essays though haha! I really like this post, an argument between your heart and your head is pretty real.
Ah, this never ending battle… And I always (I mean ALWAYS) end up listening to the heart first… Maybe now I will reconsider… But you know – everyone will get his own message from this post. What I am wondering is: what was the message you wanted to send out?
Great idea for a post. I mean gonna definitely try this.
Mind vs heart. WInner: Heart. Why? Coz it doesn’t listen to the mind.
lol. Hi Sabrina, you sound like my youngest daughter, her stomach wins too. 😉 Thanks for dropping by
Really nice story… generally my mind has this kind of discussion with my stomach. The latter wins. ALWAYS!
Thank you Florence 😉
Thanks a ton. It is a never ending battle of misunderstandings between the two 😉
This was nice 🙂
I think you hit spot on how the head and heart can… disagree! 😉
Exactly. We skill have this battle I knew it couldn’t just be me.. Lol…thanks for reading, have a great day💯👌😉
Thanks a ton. That’s what goes on in my head. Very interesting stuff…😉😂👌
This is pretty funny! Interesting way to think about the battle between the heart and mind of each one of us!
This was great. I think these are true statements but also a little humorous.
Thank you do much Anne. This is my daily inner battle… Loll thanks for dropping by 😉👌
I love this! This is so creative on so many levels!
Thanks bunches. All of the prompts we receive are truly challenging because we have to dig within ourselves. For me that can mean. a lot of digging. 😉 Have a great day.
What a novel, dare I say unusual approach to day 6’s challenge. I’m still pondering how to approach the topic. I just wish I’d have dreamed up your way first. If I were a teacher I’d rate you top of the class.
