There was no way he was doing it. And that was that. But as Marvin stared down at the glittery pink tutu, the inflatable unicorn horn strapped securely to his forehead, and the gauntlet of five-year-olds awaiting his entrance at the other side of the gymnasium, he realized that “that” was a very relative term. As a renowned method actor, he had tackled Shakespeare and Chekhov, but nothing—no dramatic monologue or intense character study—had prepared him for Princess Sparklehoof’s Magical Adventure, a role his niece insisted only he could play at her birthday party. Marvin took a deep breath, summoned his inner sparkle, and pranced forward, fully aware that a room full of kindergartners were about to witness the most method unicorn in the history of make-believe.
